What’s the Exam Pattern?
Mode: Computer-Based Test (CBT).
Duration: 60 minutes per test paper.
Sections:
- Language Test (Section IA & IB: 13 languages available).
- Domain-Specific Subjects (up to 23–37 subjects, aligned with Class 12 NCERT).
- General Test (compulsory for many programs).
Maximum subjects: Up to 5 (flexible choice, no strict mapping to Class 12 subjects required by NTA, but check university rules).
Question type: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
Marking: +5 for correct, -1 for incorrect (standard scheme).
Conducted in multiple shifts.

Preparation Strategies
- 9 Hours of Sleep : A sound sleep is equivalents to a sharp and alert mind. Go for it.
- Breathing to success: Just focusing on your breath—inhalation and exhalation can relax your body and make your mind less cluttered.
- Schedule: Make regular breaks as a part of a weekly and daily planner. It helps you to meet deadlines, plan things and also have time to relax.
- NCERT Textbooks: These are a goldmine for information, conceptual clarity and a fine understanding of diverse domain subjects. Practice mock tests and previous year papers (available on NTA site).
- Time management: Balance board exams and CUET prep.
- Resources: Official syllabus PDFs, online mocks, focus on high-weightage topics.
Aim for accuracy to avoid negative marking.
How to Relax
- Mindful Device Usage: Set a time limit for scrolling or being online on your social media apps, daily. Your main target should be winding down to posting thrice a week.
- Get bored: Newton wasn’t scrolling when he discovered gravity. Neither should you. Get bored and creative. The grey cells will thank you.
- Go Green: Pair carrots with greens and ensure you maintain a healthy diet despite deadlines and daily challenges.
- Connect: Take a walk, talk to family, visit the local bookstore or follow your hobby. This time is non-negotiable.
- Restrict phone calls: When the clock strikes 7pm, limit your phone calls and say NO to work calls.
- Eye Care: Blink your eyes often, take your eyes off screen and do eye exercises.
It’s a good idea to draw up a list of your personal strengths and weaknesses. Go for the areas you’re unsure about and take help. Revise concepts and take quizzes frequently. Don’t hesitate to seek counselling.
